Wallace S. Simmons

FRANKLIN—Wallace Samuel Simmons, 85, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home.
A native of Southampton County, he was born October 30, 1926.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Worrell Simmons; daughter, Holly Worrell Simmons; sister-in-law, Jessie Mae Davis Simmons; and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Samuel Simmons and Nettie B. Davis Simmons; sister, Virginia S. Brooks; and brothers, Malcolm D. Simmons and J.P. Simmons.
Wallace served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II after which he attended Ferrum Junior College and Smithdeal-Massey Business School.
He was employed at St. Regis Paper Co. and Champion International, retiring in 1987.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at High Street United Methodist Church, 31118 Camp Parkway, Courtland, Va., with Rev. John Ashley and Rev. Ed Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
