FRANKLIN—The Franklin School Board on Friday approved a budget amendment that includes eliminating two teaching jobs and closing a math lab.

The action was needed to balance the budget after the City gave the school district $142,417 less than expected after its $4.9 million allocation.

Associate Director of Instruction Beverly Rabil said Friday she didn’t feel comfortable releasing which positions would be eliminated until she meets with school staff.

The board originally asked the city for $5.4 million for its $13.4 million budget, but received an additional $312,000 when the state approved its budget. The city also added $142,758 in leftover money from the 2010-2011 budget.
