Mary Virginia Kelly Jones, 75, died peacefully in her sleep at 2:10 a.m., June 20, 2012.

She was born September 26, 1936, in Pennington Gap, Va.

She was the daughter of Willie Mae Barlow Kelly and William Polk Kelly.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Stuart Temple Jones: and her two children, Stephen Temple Jones (Sheila Berry) and Sharon Virginia Jones Roman (Jeffrey Mark Roman) and their two children, Caitlin Virginia Roman and William Connor Roman.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul Edwin Kelly, Ronald Gene Kelly and Ben Pearce Kelly.

She is survived by her brothers, Carl Barlow Kelly and George Ray Kelly; and her sister Doris Graham Kelly Wimmer.

She graduated from Pennington Gap High School at age 16 and graduated from Radford University with a B.S. degree in education in 1957.

Virginia was a longtime teacher and later school secretary at Hunterdale Elementary School in Southampton County.

She was a 25-year member of DAR, Lovelady Chapter, Pennington Gap, Va., and a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood and loved her sisters of Chapter B, Hampton, Va.

She was a lifelong Methodist, but recently joined Overbrook Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Va. She loved her new church, its members and pastor.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Va. Services will be held at Bliley’s Staples Mill Road on Saturday at noon, June 23. A reception will be held after the service at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, Dumbarton Road.

Burial and graveside service will be at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, Va., near Pennington Gap, Va., on June 25 at 11 a.m.
