FRANKLIN—Leslie Fenton Porter Sr., 91, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012.
Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Fenton and Susie Miles Porter.
Mr. Porter was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the retired owner of Small Engine Service and Equipment Company Inc.
Mr. Porter was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Anne Harris Porter; a granddaughter, Donna O’Clair; brothers, Benjamin Porter, Bobby Davis and David Thomas Porter; and sisters, Doris Porter Kitchen and Frances Porter Babb.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Denise P. Porter and Joan P. O’Clair and her husband, Donald “Buck;” two sons, Glenn A. Porter and Leslie F. Porter Jr. and his wife, Mary; grandson, Bryan Leslie Porter; sister, Shirley P. Drake; and brothers, Irving Porter and Raymond C. Davis Sr.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Va., with Rev. Lester King and Rev. Brent Kimlick officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to any favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
