Ricks, Bynum recognized for athletics

FRANKLIN—Franklin High School students Emmanuel Ricks and Katisha Bynum received the Bronco and Bronkette awards for excellence in athletics during the 2012 Spring Awards Night.

During high school, Ricks participated in football, soccer, golf, wrestling and track. Bynum participated in competition cheerleading, volleyball and softball.

Hosted by the athletic department and athletic boosters, the awards night was for students who played baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and track, and participated in Special Olympics.

Seniors and their parents were recognized and given a plaque for their participation.

Most Valuable Player awards went to Tevin Sumblin for baseball, Tyreckka Hawks for girls’ tennis, Marlilah Bowers for softball, Antone Bland for soccer, Shaun Derama for boys’ tennis and Travis Brown for track.
