Joseph E. Vaughan

SUFFOLK—Joseph Earnest Vaughan, 68, passed away June 5, 2012, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Ninth of thirteen children, he was a son of the late William W. Vaughan Sr. and Alta Sharon Hatfield Vaughan.

He retired from the sheet finishing department at International Paper, served in the National Guard for six years and was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.

Joseph was predeceased by four sisters, Margaret Vaughan, Ann V. Lamm, Charlotte V. Foster and Becky Vaughan; and two brothers, William W. Vaughan Jr. and Council D. Vaughan.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bettye W. Vaughan; one daughter, Kristy V. Schoch; one son, Michael T. Vaughan (Cassie); three step-children, Charee Riddick (Burwell), Ned Ludwick III and John Ludwick; five sisters, Elizabeth V. Johnson, Carolyn V. Porter, Esther V. Simms, Kathryn V. Lamm and Patricia V. Bland; one brother, George E. Vaughan; and 14 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 8, 2012, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of Dennis and Kathyrn Lamm at 179 Bobwhite Lane, Franklin, Va., and suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
