WAKE FOREST, N.C.—Former Tidewater resident Vivian Gardner Ramsey, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2012.

“MaMaw Viv” was born July 2, 1929, in Blountville, Tenn., to the late Ward and Mayme Collings Gardner.

Vivian was married to the late Robert J. Ramsey, who preceded her in death in 1992.

For many years, she worked with her husband at Ramsey’s Esso, where she was the bookkeeper.

A celebration of life service was held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Road, Raleigh, N,C, with the family to receive friends following the service.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 800 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, Tenn.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela R. Childress and husband, Richard of Wake Forest; and grandchildren Daniel, Lauren, Tyler and Hannah Childress.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
