CULPEPER—Thomas Andrew Pitts, 39, of Rixeyville, Va., and formerly of Capron, passed away April 23, 2012, in Rixeyville.

Born February 8, 1973, in St. Augustine, Fla., to Vedder and Cynthia Lewis Smith, Thomas led a full life.

Graduating from Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., in 1992, Thomas achieved Eagle Scout, and then served his country in the U.S. Navy for 12 years as an electrician.

He loved home-schooling his children and teaching them how to cook. Most recently, he worked as an engineering tech with MICRON.

Thomas leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Pitts; their seven children, Andrew (15), Natalie (14), Cindy (12), Hannah (10), Sarah (8), Matthew (6) and Katie (3); parents, Vedder and Cynthia Smith; siblings, Tracy Walton, Timothy Pitts and Elizabeth Smith; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Capalia.

Services for Thomas will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Capron Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Elizabeth Pitts, as she has a trust fund for the children, P.O. Box 262, Rixeyville, Va., 22737.
