FRANKLIN–Alice Claudia Marshall Sykes, 84, born October 21, 1927, passed over into heaven June 1, 2012.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, William “Buddy” Sykes and her son, Willie Marshall Sykes. Mrs. Sykes was a retired nurse who was first of her graduating class who was a kind and gentle woman with a sense of humor who touched everyone she met. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children who gave her full support and encouragement to all of them.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Claudia Marie Sykes from the Virginia Home in Richmond, VA and Annilee S. Wood and her husband, Harrell; four granddaughters, Ann Marie Drake and Crystal, Maryon, and Amanda Wood, one great-granddaughter, Summer Croswell, all from New Kent, VA, sister, Marilee Justice; two brothers, Tom Marshall and John Marshall and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Pastor Jim Langois officiating. Burial will be private at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM.
