SEDLEY—A Franklin man was charged with grand larceny for allegedly attempting to steal a central air-conditioning unit and car parts from a home in the 15000 block of Ivor Road near Sedley, the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Fredrick Picot, 50, of the 200 block of Forest Pine Road was arrested after police were called to the home for a suspicious vehicle in the yard. Deputies found the air-conditioning unit and car parts in some nearby woods. Picot, who the vehicle was registered to, was found nearby, the Sheriff’s Office said.

He is free on $1,000 bond.
