FRANKLIN—Three people were flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after the car they were riding in rolled several times in the Farm Fresh parking lot at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Franklin police said.

The injured were the driver, Carlton Bruce Willis, 22, of Newport News; Shavonte Everette, 18, of Franklin; and an unidentified, pregnant 17-year-old from Southampton County.

Lt. Tim Whitt said there was a fight at the nearby Walmart, and the driver was speeding when he took off in a 2002 Chrysler with the females.

(He) “left the shopping center onto Armory Drive eastbound in a reckless manner, ran the traffic light in front of Farm Fresh and swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle,” Whitt said. “The driver lost control and traveled over the curb, the car rolled several times, ejecting the driver and one passenger.”

The car came to rest against a utility pole.

The investigation is ongoing; charges are pending.
