FRANKLIN—The Three Rivers Bass Club will hold an open-to-the-public tournament Saturday, May 12.The Big Bass Challenge will involve boating anglers to compete for the heaviest bass at the each of three weigh-ins every two hours for prize money.

The event will launch at 6 a.m. from the Highway 258 boat landing on the Nottoway River and run through 1 p.m.

During the April 28 tournament, Bubba Gay took round four of the Three Rivers Bass Tournament Series on the Nottoway River. He caught five bass with a total weight of 12.48 pounds. Gay also caught the heaviest bass of the day at 3.31 pounds.

“Tough fishing, looked hard,” Gay said.

Several anglers agreed it was a difficult day of fishing with only four teams bringing in the maximum limit of five bass.

The teams of Bob Holt and Matt Holt took second with a total weight of 8.69 pounds followed by Kevin Gunn and Jonathan Whitley in third, Keith Vick and K.J. Vick in fourth and Jason Blankenship in fifth.
