To the Editor:

The politicians in Southampton County have resorted to the age-old shell game of disguising taxes as fees.

Our taxes are supposed to pay for services provided to the citizens. Garbage fees?

Next come law enforcement fees to the sheriff’s department.

School fees?

All the while taxes continue to go up. Some more cost-cutting is in order rather than trying to fool the people.
