IWCS names new assistant superintendent

ISLE OF WIGHT—Laura Abel, principal of Grafton Middle School, on Wednesday was hired the new assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and administration for Isle of Wight County Schools.

Abel received her bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College and her master’s degree from George Washington University.

She brings 20 years of educational experience to the school division, including as a high school, middle school and elementary school principal and eight years as the coordinator of professional development for York County Schools.

As assistant superintendent, Abel will provide leadership and vision in the establishment of goals, planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs in the Division.
