FRANKLIN—The Franklin High girls’ tennis team opened Tri-Rivers District play with an 8-0 victory over visiting Surry on Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars forced three of the singles matches to a third set in the best-of-three format. Winners for Franklin were Asya Lee, Jeanetta Sessoms, Kaitlyn Trotter, Rebecca Gray, Tyreckka Hawks and Cheyenne Banks.

In doubles action, the third doubles was not played due to time constraints.
