Franklin boys drop district match

DENDRON—The Franklin boys’ tennis team fell 4-5 to host Surry on Tuesday for the first district match.

Playing for more than two hours, Franklin’s Shaun Derama pulled off an exciting win at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4, 14-12 victory over the Cougars’ M. Jefferson.



No. 1 Shaun Derama (F) 6 -4, 14-12 over M. Jefferson

No. 2 X. Zhang (S) 6-2, 6-3 over Mike Lawyer

No. 3 Default to Surry

No. 4 William Jackson (F) 6-1, 6-1 over T. Penny

No. 5 Khiry Reese, (F) 6-0, 6-0 over J. Mayhue

No. 6 Neico Newsome (F) lost 6-0, 6-0 to J. Senechal



No. 1—Derama/Jackson (F) defeated Jefferson/Senechal, 8-8 (11-9)

No. 2—Default to Surry

No. 3—Reese/Newsome (F) lost 8 -4 to Mayhue/Senechal


The Broncos are 0-8 overall and 0-1 in the district.
