To the Editor:

It is a privilege to write on behalf of Mayor Jim Councill for his re-election.

Mayor Councill is a believer and supporter of local area businesses, both downtown and around town. He is an active board member of the Downtown Franklin Association as the City Council representative, providing much-needed representation, which it has not had from the council before.

Mayor Councill has been a longtime member and supporter of the Chamber of Commerce, which nurtures new and member businesses for growth and development. Mayor Councill has been instrumental in securing Small Business Development grants used to train and enhance new business development.

Mayor Councill doesn’t just talk about matters, or sit on boards, but takes an active part in making things happen. We need that kind of committed leadership to continue our revitalization.
