To the Editor:

We are writing in support of Mayor Jim Councill for re-election.

Our present mayor has spent the past 16 years working for the city. He has spent countless hours of his own time promoting Franklin to the Hampton Roads region.

Jim is well known and respected by many in leadership positions in the state as well as the region. He is gifted with speaking skills and has sincere empathy for others.

During the two hurricanes and floods, he took charge and helped bring the city back to life. He got the business incubator going and it is successful beyond anyone’s dreams.

He has worked tirelessly to bring jobs back after the closing of International Paper. He knows where to go for outside resources, and that is a very important thing to know.

If it “ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Franklin is not broken. Jim Councill is optimistic and ready to take on the next two years and prove that Franklin can continue to be the shining little city that it is.
