Alice Newsome ‘Aboo’ Picot

RICHMOND—Alice Newsome “Aboo” Picot of Richmond and formerly of Franklin, Va., who was born April 28, 1915, went home to be with her lord and her husband of 69 years, Guy C. Picot, and a host of relatives, on April 17, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Becky” Picot Otey; grandson, Melvin Rosson Otey III and his wife, Julie; two great-grandchildren, Virginia and Nathaniel Otey; and many nieces and nephews.

Alice managed along with her husband, The Franklin District Office of Citizens Home Insurance Company.

She was a talented artist as well as an avid gardener.

The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., 23231, on Friday April 20, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Fort Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Road, Richmond, Va., 23231, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery, 1022 Statesville Road, Como, N.C., 27818.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fort Lee Baptist Church or Franklin Baptist Church.
