WINDSOR—A Sunday brush fire that covered about 100 acres on Old Suffolk Road south of U.S. 460 has been extinguished, said Isle of Wight County spokesman Don Robertson.

“The fire is out, but they are still monitoring the area to make sure there are no hotspots,” Robertson said Monday.

The fire prompted a voluntary evacuation of homes at about 5 p.m. No homes were damaged, and no one was hurt, Robertson said.

Firefighters from Smithfield, Windsor, Ivor, Suffolk, Carrsville and the Virginia Department of Forestry responded.
