WINDSOR-A brush fire Sunday afternoon prompted a voluntary evacuation of homes on Old Suffolk Road south of U.S. 460. No homes were damaged, and no one was injured.
Residents were encouraged at about 5 p.m. to evacuate to the parking lot of Food Lion grocery store.
The fire was concentrated near 12373 Old Suffolk Road and covered about 100 acres.
Unusually dry conditions have put Western Tidewater under a fire advisory for much of the past week. No rain is expected until at least Tuesday, when the forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of isolated showers.
