To the Editor:

On March 10, Sedley Hunt Club held its second annual Kids’ Day.

The weather was good and 85 kids participated in events, including BB gun and archery shooting, deer dragging and tracking competitions.

There also were about 150 adults, which included hunt club members, volunteers, parents, grandparents and parents of small children checking out the competitions for next year.

Everyone ate lunch, and the winners of the competitions were announced and received their trophies.

Sedley Hunt Club raffled about 60 items, including BB guns, fishing tackle, slingshots, shotgun shells, hunting equipment, and a shotgun and a rifle. We also had extra prizes for the kids who did not receive a trophy or win a raffle. Not one child left without taking home something.

I would like to thank the businesses and individuals who contributed to this event; without you, this event would never happen.

Other hunt clubs that supported this event by attending or volunteering were Black Creek, B&B, Manry, Forks of the River, Bronco Rod and Gun Club, Zuni, Davis Ridley and Community.

Competitors came from as far away as Virginia Beach, Emporia, Wakefield and Richmond. Again, thank you to all who contributed, donated and supported this great event.
