COURTLAND – The Southampton Academy softball team lost 4-1 to Greenbrier Christian on Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders had six hits and two errors in the ballgame.

“We played a good game,” said Coach Jeb Bradshaw. “There were times we did not execute on plays we normally make. Offensively, we put the bat on the ball, but could not get timely hits when we had runners on base.”

Lady Raider pitcher Chelsea Speight went all seven innings, struck out four, gave up two earned runs, but allowed 10 hits in the loss.

Rachel Holland went two-for-three with one RBI and Morgan Pope went one-for-two and scored SA’s only run.

Whitley Smith, Brigitte Bradshaw and Skylar Goodman also had hits in the loss.

SA takes on Brunswick Academy at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in Lawrenceville.
