FRANKLIN—Mr. Johnnie B Scott of Cobb Road died peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2012, while a patient in East Pavilion.

The Boykins, Va., native was born on July 27, 1922, the son of William C. and Daisy Worrell Scott.

On January 4, 1947, he was joined in holy matrimony to Lennie Isabel Everett, and to this union, five children were born.

Johnnie was a very determined and driven man armed with the love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his military service, he was stationed in Europe.

Johnnie was a member of Galilee Baptist Church for many years. During his life’s journey, he was a farmer, carpenter, employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Union Camp Corp., Hercules and later in life, he was a member of the security team at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Anitia Denise Scott.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lennie I. Scott; daughter, Iola Hybrenda Scott Lamison of Franklin, Va.; son, Michael Bridges Scott (Sarah) of Chesterfield, Va.; daughter, Alexis Darlene Scott Christian of Washington, D.C.; son, Johnnie Bernstein Scott (Viola); one sister, Bernice Jackson of Franklin, Va.; four brothers, Ralph Lee Scott (Rebecca) of Portsmouth, Va., Vernon Lee Scott (Ruth) of Franklin, Va., Jesse Lee Scott of Adams Grove, Va., and William Earl Scott (Bobbie) of Franklin, Va.; seven grandchildren, Steven Brad Barnes, Sonya Renee Scott, Michelle Jovan Scott, Chante Janique Scott, Nicole Monique Scott, James Menard Christian Jr. and Jamexis Denise Christian; two great-grandchildren, Brittney and Breya Barnes; one sister-in-law, Mable Everett of Franklin, Va.; one brother-in-law, Floyd Everett (Thelma) of Frankln, Va.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

On Tuesday, the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the chapel of Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 S. Main S., Franklin, Va. A homegoing service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, 15688 Old Branchville Road, Branchville, Va., with the pastor, Reverend Willie L. Diggs, delivering the eulogy.

Prior to the service, Mr. Scott’s remains will rest in church for viewing by 11 a.m. The committal and Benediction is in Southview Cemetery.
