EMPORIA—Franklin High School sophomore Devon Stewart and junior JaQuan Heath got the lone two Bronco hits during a 20-1, non-conference loss to host Greensville on Thursday.

Freshman pitcher Michael Edwards was tagged with the loss.

Coach Tommy Austin faces a rebuilding season. The Broncos have no seniors, and from its roster of 15, only five have played varsity ball before, he said. During the game against Greensville, Austin used four pitchers — two freshmen and two juniors.

“We have a really, really young team,” he said. “They’re working hard at it, and I’m really pleased with the progress they are making.”

Franklin will travel to Southampton High School for a 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, non-conference game.
