FRANKLIN—Joseph Allen Smithwick, 75, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012. Born in Bertie Co., NC he was a son of the late Henry Allen and Annie Deans Smithwick. Allen was a long time employee of Union Camp and attended Franklin Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Smithwick and sisters, Elizabeth S. Hoggard and Patricia S. Dunlow.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Marion M. Smithwick, son, Jerry Allen Smithwick and wife, Darlene of Augusta, GA, grandson, Ronnie Allen Smithwick and wife, Emilie of Richmond, VA, sisters, Hazel S. McLane of Elizabeth City, NC and Kaye S. Simmons Windsor, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Southampton Memorial Park with Rev. Sharon James officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Wright Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
