IVOR—The B&B Hunt Club recently awarded $500 Jayton Patterson Memorial Scholarships to two local college students.

Receiving the awards were Amanda Johnson, a freshman at Mary Baldwin College. She is the daughter of John and Robin Johnson of Sedley.

The second went to Joseph Fox, son of Robin Hall of Berlin and Johnny Fox of Capron. He attends Paul D. Camp Community College.

The Ivor hunt club gives the scholarships to children or grandchildren of members. John Johnson is a member. Member Jack Lowe is Joseph Fox’s grandfather.

These are the fifth annual scholarships given in memory of Marine Jayton Patterson, a former hunt club member killed in Iraq in 2005.

To help raise money for the scholarships, the club will hold a barbecue on Saturday, May 5.
