FRANKLIN—Robert “Bobby” Byron Cumbey, 51, entered Heaven on Friday morning, March 9, 2012, for eternity hearing the words “well done my good and faithful servant!”

He was the son of the late Christine and John H. Cumbey and was predeceased by his brother, John Alan Cumbey.

A native of Southampton County, Bobby had many great accomplishments in his life, none being greater than his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prior to and throughout his battle with cancer, Bobby’s tremendous faith in God never faltered. He served as an encouragement to his family, friends and many others always demonstrating a primary concern for their salvation and relationship with the Lord which has left a legacy that will continue to grow.

Bobby always said, “We serve a big God”, and this was evident in his big faith! Throughout his life, he touched many people with his compassion, his wisdom, and his courage, which is summarized in this passage from Hebrews 3:6: “But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ, faithful to the end.”

Bobby will be missed, but we take comfort in the peace that surpasses all understanding because of the grace and mercy of our redeemer and knowing we will see him again one day.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rhee R. Cumbey; children, Bradleigh and Casey Cumbey; brother, Warren Dean Cumbey and wife, Becky, of Courtland; sister, Lisa Dawn Cumbey of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Trevor Cumbey, Kendal Carwile, Andy Foster, Alexis Foster, Hillary Brock and Taylor Felts; uncle, Lacy “Butch” Cumbey and wife, Virginia; sister-in-laws, Renee Felts and husband, Michael, and Randi Foster and husband, James; and cousin, Rene Boutin and husband, Spencer.
