James Alfred Warren

IVOR—On Tuesday, March 06, 2012, at approximately 1:33 a.m., God brought from labor to reward, Deacon James Alfred Warren, 84, of Ivor at Sentara Obici Hospital.

James Alfred Warren was born on February 18, 1928, in Southampton County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace and Hattie Warren. Of that union, two sons were conceived of which James was the oldest.

He attended Southampton County Public Schools and later enjoyed servicing his community and other surrounding areas by beautifying homes with his unique style of painting with Stephenson and Stephenson Contractors for 52 years.

He accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early in life and served as an active member of St. Paul Holiness Church, Sedley, Va. While serving, he held the positions of chairman deacon for 40-plus years and as the Sunday School Superintendent for the entire Apostolic Faith Church of God (AFCOG). He was also general and district president of the Sunday School Union of the AFCOG from August 1976 to August 1992.

He served on the Board of Directors for Ivor Medical Center form 1979 to 1989.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: (wife) Marlene C. Warren; (children) Carrol Stith (Marion) of Wakefield, Va., Wyleane D. Cooper (John) of Ivor, Va., and Tonga W. Evans (Roland) of Zuni, Va.; (grandchildren) 12; (great-grandchildren) 16; (brother) Elder William Warren Sr. (Willie Mae), Ivor, Va.; (sister-in-law) Dorothy Edwards, Waverly, Va.; (aunt) Merdy Sears, Portsmouth, Va.; (uncles) John T. Warren (Mary), Ivor, Va., and Joe Warren (wife), Syracuse, N.Y; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visiting hours will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012, until 8 p.m at Engram Funeral Home in Franklin. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Holiness Church in Sedley, Va.
