A heads-up for IP retirees, dependents

To the Editor:

For all of the Medicare recipients who also have International Paper Co.’s supplementary insurance, which will end on June 30, be sure to note that the meeting in which you will be told about the oncoming changes to your supplementary will not be held in downtown Suffolk but rather in the Harbor View area of the city.

We have run into numerous people who were not aware of that.

If you are not comfortable driving in these areas, please do not hesitate to call a friend whom you may ride with. Otherwise, you will have to get your information by undergoing a one-hour or longer prerecorded session. If you should have questions, you will have to call back at a later time. It might even be a good idea to have others (friends, family members) listening with you in case there is a point you don’t understand. Then, you and whomever you are with can discuss it before you have to call back at a later time.

Since IP’s mill was located in Franklin, it seems that the presentation should be held in Franklin, maybe at the Paul D. Camp Community College Regional Workforce Development Center, in a place that would be more centrally located for the former IP workers.
