She got royal treatment at service station

To the Editor:

Franklin was my home for two years a while ago. I now live in Suffolk, but I return to Franklin weekly for Bible Study at St. Jude Church.

This past Tuesday as I was leaving St. Jude’s I ran over a large branch and it lodged in my front wheel. As I drove down Clay Street, the branch made a horrible racket and seemed to be interfering with the steering at times. I stopped the car and tried unsuccessfully to remove it.

I had business at Floor to Ceiling, and when I asked there where to go to find a good auto repair shop, I was directed to Bubba’s Place. I knew that I could not get on 58 to go home unless the branch was removed. So I immediately drove there; it was around 12:30 p.m.

As I walked into the office at Bubba’s Place, the gentleman behind the desk was talking to several other men. When he heard my story, he immediately jumped up and went to my car. Getting down on his knees, he broke the branch and removed all the pieces that were lodged so firmly in my wheel.

As you can imagine, I was very grateful — and asked him what the charge was. With a wonderful smile, the man refused any compensation, saying he was happy to help. So I would like to extend my thanks publicly to him. He made my day, and I suspect he does that every day for all his customers.
