MURFREESBORO, N.C.–Joseph Powell of Murfreesboro died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at New Haven Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Powell was a retired employee of Georgia Pacific.

Among his survivors are his wife, Lillie Vaughan Powell, and sister Mildred P. Cooper, both of Murfreesboro.
