Stanley G. Lowe

Franklin – Stanley Graves Lowe, 91, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at his residence at The Village at Woods Edge. A longtime former resident of Walters, he was born in Isle of Wight County, a son of the late William Drew Lowe and Odelle Ballard Lowe Butler, and was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Lowe was a retired Metropolitan Life Insurance agent and a former real estate broker with Scott and Associates. He was a 50 year plus member of the Purdie Masonic Lodge #170 AF&AM, last living charter member of the Walters Ruritan Club, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Franklin Lodge, and a former member of the Woodmen of the World, Walters camp. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Sarah S. Lowe; his daughter, Carolyn L. Scott and husband, Durwood, of Windsor; sister, Jessie Mae Cobb of Sedley; two grandsons, Dale Scott and wife, Edith and Dane Scott and wife, Renee; four great –grandchildren, Spencer, Meredith, Grayson and Parker Scott. He was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Turner, Helen Duck and Mabel Lowe and a brother, Ballard Lowe.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to the Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, 6361 Rhodes Dr., Windsor, VA 23487.
