To the Editor:

The 50th anniversary of our City seems an appropriate time to acknowledge the efforts of someone who is committed to helping our community thrive.

As the publisher of The Tidewater News, Steve Stewart courageously seeks to provide us with information that promotes critical thinking and causes us to re-examine long-held thoughts and opinions.

His articles explain, criticize, praise and inspire. For some the result may be unease or discomfort.

A popular quote states that, “It is only when propelled by discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our rut, and start searching for a better way.”

He continually holds up a mirror, whose reflection nudges us toward change and improvement.
