FRANKLIN— The Franklin boys improved to 12-4 overall and 8-2 in the Tri-Rivers District after defeating visiting Windsor 57-42 on Friday.

Senior guard Jalen Vincent had a game-high 16 points for the host Broncos while teammate Tyshaun Lowe had 14 points and 15 rebounds. Adam Grant added 13 points.

R.J. Edwards led the Dukes with 14 points, followed by Cole Daniels with 12 and Justice Chapman with nine.

The game was much closer than the score reflects, said Windsor Coach Brandon Bossick.

“FHS hit some foul shots in the last minute to seal the victory,” Bossick said. “The Dukes played well, but early first-half turnovers were too much to combat.”

Windsor was down by 12 points and came back to within three points of the Broncos in the fourth quarter.

“FHS’ clutch foul shooting prevailed,” Bossick said.

Franklin went 4-for-4 from the three-point line to begin the game and was up 14-2 within the first three minutes of the game.

The Broncos hit six threes to end the half with a 32-25 lead. Windsor hit four three-pointers in the first half.

Franklin led 43-34 heading into the final eight minutes. Windsor made a few runs to try to cut into the lead.

“(I’m) proud of the boys to continue to win tough games,” said Franklin Coach Danny Dillon. “Windsor has a lot of size and they continue to get better, so to win tonight says a lot for the Broncos.”

Franklin’s junior varsity team defeated Windsor 47-24. The game was close at halftime, but the Broncos’ defense held the Dukes to six third-quarter points. Windsor did not score in the fourth quarter.

Franklin played Sussex on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time. The Broncos will host Charles City in their last regular season game at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.
