BROOKLYN, NY.—Deborah Yvonne Freeman-Mabry of Brooklyn, N.Y., entered into eternal rest January 31, 2012.

Deborah was born in Newsoms, Va., on January 29, 1951, to the late Claudie and Bessie Freeman.

Deborah grew up in Franklin, Va., where she confessed Christ at an early age.

She attended the public school system and graduated from Hayden High School in 1969.

After graduation, Deborah relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y., and in 1973 she was blessed with the arrival of her son, Kiminey.

After residing in Brooklyn for many years, she moved to Albany, N.Y, where she attended Russell Sage College and received a bachelor’s of arts degree in nursing.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nawatha Freeman; and two brothers, Weldon and McCarthy Freeman.

She is survived by, a devoted son, Kiminey Thomas of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six siblings, Jacqueline Staley of Queens Village, N.Y., Charles Freeman and Gladys Burwell, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ernell Freeman of Franklin, Va., Mazie Gainey of Chesapeake, Va., and Bernard Freeman of Albany, N.Y.; one aunt, Callie Artis of Suisum City, Calif.; one brother-in-law, John Staley; two sisters-in-law, Martha Freeman and Jean Freeman; 10 nieces and nephews; 17 grand-nieces and grand-nephews; other relatives and friends; and a best friend, Conrad Thomas.

A homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 318 Hall St., Franklin, Va., with Reverend Henry Blunt delivering the eulogy; Reverend D. Shawrod Riddick is pastor.

The interment will be in Southview Cemetery.
