FRANKLIN—Lucy Byrd Holland, 99, widow of Joseph Conway Holland, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the East Pavilion.

Born November 17, 1912, in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Louberta Holland Byrd and was also predeceased by her sister, Louvenia Blythe, and a brother, Stanley Byrd.

She was a retired manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation and a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her two nieces, Shelby B. Coggsdale and Carolyn B. Thornton; three nephews, Larry G. Blythe, William L. Blythe Jr. and Stanley L. “Pete” Byrd Jr.; great-nieces and nephews; and nieces and nephews on Conway’s side of the family.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Wright Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, February 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
