Victor Beaton Gizzard

Victor Beaton Grizzard, husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away, Friday, February 3, 2012.

He was born in Boykins on October 22, 1917, the son of the late Eugene Hinton Grizzard and Edna Gardner Grizzard.

Victor was a life deacon of Boykins Baptist Church, 60-year veteran of Boykins Masonic Lodge No. 287, World War II veteran, longtime member of Boykins Lions Club and retired from Southland Life Insurance Co. after 26 years of service.

Left to cherish his precious memory are his wife of 61 years, Edith Bryant Grizzard; two daughters, Cynthia Grizzard Turner and husband Harrell of Branchville and Betty Grizzard Mann and husband, Michael of Boykins; five grandchildren, Mark Brandon Turner and wife, Kelly Wild Turner, Ryan Dean Turner and wife, Heather Genevieve Turner, Josh Turner, Maggie Ashley Mann, Molly Katelyn Mann and Michael Cole Mann; two step-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Riley; sisters, Margaret Wilcox Wilroy and Francis Grizzard Forehand; and sister-in-law, Adell Morgan Grizzard.

Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Hinton Eugene Grizzard and sister, Edna Wilcox Lassister.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Boykins Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
