Sara Lee Allen

FRANKLIN—Sara Lee Scott Allen, 93, widow of Lee Roy Allen, went home to her beloved and her Savior surrounded by family on February 3, 2012.
Born in Southampton County, she was one of nine children of the late Andrew Jackson and Nellie Rebecca Turner Scott.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the first graduating class and valedictorian of the School of Practical Nursing at Southampton Memorial Hospital, where she worked for over 20 years.
She was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Allen was predeceased by four sisters, Margaret S. Joyner, Mary S. Bridges, Nell S. Makinson and Janice S. Panton; and four brothers, Wm. Hunter Scott, Edward Andrew Scott, Vernard R. Scott and John T. Scott.
Left to cherish her memory are, her daughter, Christine A. Cole and husband, Steve, and her son, Michael R. Allen and wife, Peggy, all of Franklin; three grandchildren, Troy Cole and wife, Tonya, of Chesterfield, Va., Wendy C. Miller and husband, Troy, of Glen Allen, Va., and Scot A. Allen and wife, Jeannie, of Franklin; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Kendall Cole, Carter and Cole Giles and Trevor Miller; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Hunterdale United Church of Christ with the Rev. Randy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Sara Lee Allen to the SMH School of Practical Nursing Scholarship Fund, Attn: Administration, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va., 23851.
