Franklin girls play with six on roster, lose 53-42

FRANKLIN—With only six players on the roster, the Franklin girls played their best game of the season, yet lost to Tri-Rivers District foe Surry 53-42.
Lady Bronco Janesha Hurdle scored a game- and career-high 26 points and pulled in five rebounds. Breia Walloe added seven points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Carlicea Mitchell grabbed 12 rebounds and Aerial Darden made seven.
The junior varsity girls defeated Surry 22-19. Leading the scoring for the Lady Broncos was Jayla Cross with 11 points. Kaylin Jordan added six and Josephine Rankin four.
The Lady Broncos will travel to Windsor on Friday, Feb. 3, for a district rematch. The junior varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at 7.
