WINDSOR—New for the 2012 Cecil Proffit World of Wheels International Custom Auto Show will be an antique tractor pull, crafts, live music and commercial vendors.

Cecil Proffit and the Isle of Wight County Fair Committee last year joined forces for the event, which will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Heritage Park in Windsor.

There will be classes for customized and restored models, and makes of cars, nostalgia racers, trucks, vans, motorcycles, tractors and farm equipment. Registration will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m.

Those interested in displaying vehicles, participating in the antique tractor pull, renting commercial space or selling crafts should contact the fair office or Events/Fair Coordinator Darlene Keyt at 365-6325.

Proffit started the Mother’s Day show at his garage in Collossee as a fundraiser for non-profits. With his health declining and the show outgrowing his 10-acre property, Proffit contacted fair officials to discuss a potential partnership.

“It is the fair committee’s hope to continue to groom an already fantastic show,” Keyt said. “The fairground is beautiful and a car show event of this level should draw participants and guests easily from Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. With the land available at the fairground, Isle of Wight County could easily become the home of one of the largest car shows in Hampton Roads.”
