Charles B. Settle, Sr.

Capron, VA – Charles Blair “Charlie” Settle, Sr., 78, longtime local banker, passed away January 24, 2012. Mr. Settle was a native of Rawlings, VA, a son of the late Walker Benjamin and Frances Flinn Settle. He was predeceased by his son, Charles B. “Chuck” Settle, Jr. and two brothers, Flinn and Jerry. Charlie was a 1955 graduate of Virginia Tech where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He started his banking career with Vaughan and Company Bank, which over the years became Tidewater Bank and Trust, Virginia National Bank, Sovran Bank, Nations Bank, and Bank of America having worked in the Capron and Boykins branches. Charlie was a faithful member of Capron United Methodist Church and Capron Ruritan Club and served on numerous boards and organizations in his lifetime.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Mary Lee Foster Settle; his daughter, Terri Leigh Williams and husband, Barry; two beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Blair Winters and Walker Kent Williams and one great grandson, Caleb Brooks Winters.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012 in the Capron Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Vornov and Pastor Wayne Cook officiating.
