SMITHFIELD-Robert “Bob” Pate Taylor Jr, 89, of Smithfield and a native of the Berlin community in Southampton County, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Benn’s United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park with American Legion honors. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home in Smithfield.

Mr. Taylor taught agriculture classes at Smithfield High School for several years and was a former extention agent for Isle of Wight County.

Among his survivors is a sister, Louise Felts of Berlin.
