FRANKLIN—Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4411 is looking into the possibility of moving from property at the Franklin Municipal Airport to a building on Beaverdam Road in Carrsville.
Isle of Wight Planning and Zoning Assistant Director Matt Smolnik said the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on whether to allow the post a conditional-use permit for a former Moose Lodge at 3385 Beaverdam Road to be used for a meeting and event facility.
The public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse.
Former Post 4411 Commander and longtime member Ed Mattucci said the post is moving from its current location on John Beverly Rose Drive because the group “would like to own property.”
Mattucci couldn’t say whether the post currently owns the property on Beaverdam Road.
“I don’t have the green light to say that,” Mattucci said.
