Taxes reason for new home slump

To the Editor:

This is in reference to a story about Southampton County experiencing a 15-year low for new-home starts in 2011. (β€œNew-home starts slump,” Dec. 28).

The reason this is happening is because we are paying high taxes, and property and real estate are being devalued and going down.
