Elva Louise Laine Magee

Elva Louise Laine Magee, 102, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2012. Born on the Laine Family land grant farm in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Ella Jane Kitchen Laine. Mrs. Magee was the wife of the late Erastus Daniel Magee and was a member of Millfield Baptist Church. She spent her life helping others and was a true living testament of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her children, Nelson M. Magee and wife, Yolanda of Rome, GA and Donald L. Magee, Sr. and Kay Culpepper of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Gregg Magee and wife, Eva, Shane Magee and wife, Diane, Yoli Kartalis and husband, Sotirus, Laine Magee and wife, Anne, Michael Magee and wife, Donna, Molly Dowless and husband, Franklin; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Christeen Laine; and numerous special nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Elva’s many devoted friends, especially Virginia Ballard and Eunice Warthan.

The family will receive friends at Millfield Baptist Church on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News on Monday, January 9, at 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow that afternoon at Millfield Baptist Church at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Jay Butcher, assisted by Rev. Donald Seely.
