COURTLAND—Golden Paws Grooming Salon owner Niki Jernigan has a lot of room to fill since moving to a 1,500-square-foot storefront at 28252 Southampton Parkway near Food Lion.

“I’m not completely moved in,” Jernigan said Tuesday. “I haven’t put up shelves for my storage or anything,”

Jernigan previously operated the six-year-old pet grooming business from a building behind her home on Smiths Ferry Road in Southampton County. Since relocating in December, she has seen an increase in business.

“I have my recurring customers and brand new walk-ins,” Jernigan said. “Even though I was on 258, it’s still not a major, major highway like this is.”

Pet grooming services include haircuts, baths and toenail clipping for all breeds. The price depends on the breed, but the length of a dog’s coat is also a determining factor.

Golden Paws is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible for early appointments or late pickups.
