Dr. Beverly Barham Dodson

FRANKLIN-Dr. Beverly Barham Dodson, 86, went to be with his beloved wife, Martha Warriner Dodson, Friday, December 9, 2011.

A son of the late Dr. Austin Ingram and Louise Barham Dodson, he was born and raised in Richmond, graduated from St. Christopher’s School, the University of Virginia and the Medical College of Virginia with degrees in Pharmacy and Dentistry.

Barham moved his family to Franklin where he was the pharmacist at Parker Drug Co. Later he returned to MCV to obtain his degree in Dentistry and returned to Franklin to practice dentistry for many years.

Barham was a World War II veteran and a loyal member and past post commander of the American Legion, an active member and past president of the Hunterdale Ruritan Club, a former member and past president of the Franklin Rotary Club and a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Sidney Lee Dodson of Richmond, VA, Anne Beverly Moseley and husband, Rory of Lebanon, VA, and Louise Henderson Grgurich and husband, Joey of Manteo, NC; a son, Thomas Austin Dodson of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Daniel Moseley, Brenton Moseley and wife, Courtney, Bryan Moseley and wife, Jessica, Mariah, John, and Martha Henderson; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Brayden, and Cameron Moseley. Barham is also survived by his brother, Austin I. Dodson, Jr. of Richmond and his special girls, Tess Barnes and Kimberly Hines.

He was predeceased by his son-in-law, J. Brad Henderson.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, December 12, 2011 at Franklin Baptist Church followed by a celebration of his life at his beloved Fred’s Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Blackwater/Nottoway Riverkeeper Program, BNRP, P.O. Box 44, Sedley, VA 23878, or to any Franklin charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated by his family.
