SUFFOLK-Jethro Haslett Piland, 92, of Suffolk died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Piland served 18 years as a captain in the Virginia National Guard and was promoted to major prior to retirement. He was also retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Virginia State Inspection Services.

Among his survivors is a brother, S.A. Pylan of Windsor.

R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory of Suffolk is in charge of arrangements.
