COMO, N.C.—Samuel Thomas Burbage Jr., 95, passed away on December 2, 2011.

A life long resident of Hertford County, he was the oldest of eight children of the late Samuel Thomas Burbage Sr. and Sadie Jordan Burbage.

He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Burbage.

He retired from farming when he was 84 years old and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Annie B. Gray and husband, Walter; grandsons, Walter Dailey “Dail” Gray Jr. and wife, Kiki, and Trent Burbage Gray and wife, Charlene, all of Como, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Phoebe, Lucy and Gracie Gray, and Lucas Vinson; and a sister, Myra B. Simmons of Chester, Va.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Caulkins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Ann and Walter Gray and suggest memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va., 23851.
